The thing is, it was pitchers and hitters. So the damage is on both sides and does anybody think that the list is all that were doing it? And for that matter does anybody think that word of mouth, which is apparently what a lot of the names are, is any proof at all?
It was an era, where everybody looked the other way. It was the elephant in the corner, that everybody tried to pretend wasn't really there, as long as they were all making money.
Like I've said before, steroids or HGH might have been great, but how many of those names on the list absolutely sucked? Quite a few of them were people who barely made it, sucked when they made it or were minor blips. Great players were still great players. As much as I hate Barry Bonds, which I did before the guy ever started hitting huge amounts of homeruns, he was a great player, an MVP player before. He was a hall of fame player. Roger Clemens was a great player, a Cy Young award winner before, and a HOF player before. Did he take stuff? Probably. If anything it allowed longevity, but I don't think it helped him pitch. Just like I don't think it helped Matt Herges become a legend.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
It's not like this report had lists of folks that bet on baseball...but remember that Rose always bet on his team to win..not the other way around. BTW...what don't we just change the name of the HOF to "The Hall of Famous Players Who Were Never Deemed Bad People By The Public And Kissed The Media's A$$"..that way we can take out The Babe and Cobb and put them in with Bonds, Rose, Shoeless Joe and all the other true great who are missing from the "HOF"...really, what kind of hall is it when the all time hits leader, and potentially, the Home Run King and the greatest pitcher of the last 25 years are left out?
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
do people actually believe that rose "only bet on his team to win"?
thats a load of crap.
a gambling addict, like rose claimed, will lie (as he did before he finally admitted it), and always take a sure bet.
a number 4 starter v. a teams cy young candidate, dont bet on the reds

When Rose was player/manager of the reds..hell yeah bet on em. Unless you can prove Rose bet on opposing teams, your claim holds no water.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
unless you can prove that he only bet on his team, not go by what a lying addict says, then you cant say that he only bet on his team.
he bet on baseball games, thats all we really know.

He was investigated...and MLB has called him on everything untrue he has ever said..and they have never called him out on that..so to me that's proof enough..if he was lying MLB would call him on it
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
